The Step2 Company is a family company whose mission is to help children develop learning skills through creative play. Their products are geared toward children from infancy to school-age years. Step2 ‘s headquarters is based in Streetsboro, Ohio. The company is the largest American manufacturer of toys for preschoolers and toddlers.

Step2 has an extensive product line. They offer niche toys that can’t be found in every store. Their attention to quality has been noticed. Their toys have also earned them worldwide recognition. In fact, Step2 won a record number of top awards in 2008. For example, their outdoor toy, Playing in the Sink won the Excellent Products Award from iParenting Media Awards in 2008. The concept is that kids love to play in the sink so they made a toy that allowed kids to “legally” play in the sink. The sink is battery operated and features a gooseneck faucet. The accessories included with the sink are a cup, strainer, spinning water wheel and funnel. It was credited for its design because it allowed special needs children to play with the toy. This was quite an accomplishment for the company, one that that is very proud of.

Step2 toys include easels, art desks, sand and water play, playhouses, play kitchens, swing sets, climbers, building and construction, and wagons. One of the most popular toys of 2008 was the 50’s Diner playhouse that won 11 awards. It featured booths, a juke box that played 3 1950’s songs, retro styled table top, and food accessories such as hamburger, milkshakes and ice cream cones. The toy captured the essence of the 1950s so that today’s generation can use their imagination to be part of the 1950s.
