Baby Einstein
Baby Einstein is a producer of educational videos and toys for babies ages 3 months to 3 years. The company, now owned by Walt Disney, began in the home of Julia Aigner-Clark in Alpharetta, Georgia in 1997. She and her husband made a video/DVD called Baby Einstein, which rapidly became popular. The video featured simple toys and household goods, along with poetry, classical music, and words and phrases spoken in several different languages.
It wasn't long until more videos were produced, some of them featuring the Clarks' two daughters. In 2001, Aigner-Clark sold the company to Walt Disney for an undisclosed amount of money.
Baby Einstein products are still extremely popular among new parents. All the DVDs feature fine art, music, and spoken word in several languages, as well as toys like the ones Baby Einstein sells and other common items that babies are used to seeing in everyday life.
As a division of Walt Disney, the company has continued to grow, and eventually educational toys and puppets were added to the range of Baby Einstein merchandise. The soft hand puppets are mostly made of Vellux material, though some specifically designed as bathtub toys are made of terry cloth. All the puppets, however, can get wet and are machine washable. Puppets include a dragon, hippopotamus, dog, octopus, duck, and cow.
Toys are all made to be safe, bright, and stimulating. The Baby Einstein Bendy Ball is a flexible ball made of plastic sections that you can mix and match with yellow, blue, and red. It is bendable and just the right size for tiny hands to hold onto. For quiet times, the Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Lullaby Soother attaches onto a crib and produces soothing ocean sounds and a scrolling ocean scene with fish and other colorful characters. The Sea Dreams Lullaby Soother features 25 minutes of melodies from Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach, or calming sounds of nature.
There are dozens of other Baby Einstein toys to choose from, all of which are specifically designed to aid little ones in learning and development.
