Cheap Pool Toys

If you have a pool, you’ve got to have some pool toys too, right? Even if your pool guests are mostly or all adults, pools are a lot more fun and enjoyable if you have some accessories on hand.

One of the most basic pool toys is a swim ring. The classic donut-shaped inflatable is perennially popular because it’s so versatile. You can prop your arms on it with your head through the center, or you can lounge across it like it’s a beanbag chair. There are countless styles of swim rings, particularly for kids, whether they’re made to look like a duck or a fish or a popular cartoon character. You can get larger swim rings for the big kids and adults. They’re inexpensive, versatile, and almost universally enjoyable.

Ride-on pool toys are great for kids. These are made to have a wide base and usually the head and neck of an animal of some sort to hold onto, though they can be found shaped like an all-terrain vehicle. These are a lot of fun for kids. Little kids will like being up high, where they can see eye-to-eye with mom or dad, and with bigger kids, falling off into the water is at least half the fun.

And don’t forget about all the great games you can play in the pool. There are pool volleyball sets and pool basketball sets, both of which are favorites of teens and adults. Some pool basketball goals are made with a standard fiberglass backboard and use a regular basketball, whereas others use an inflatable beach ball. Having a few beach balls around is a lot of fun too. You can play an informal version of volleyball where you try to keep the ball in the air as much as possible and forget about the net. Or you could play old favorites like "monkey in the middle."

Pool toys don’t have to be expensive to be fun. Toss a few in the pool and watch the fun begin.
