1. MB Garbage Truck – Colors May Vary
This garbage truck toy is far from the big heavy metal Tonka trucks that I used to play with in the sandpit. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s worse, although this truck wouldn’t be able to take the beating that the Tonka trucks would in an action packed sandpit. The garbage truck has many exciting features so your little fella can use his imagination to think that he’s the man responsible for collecting the recyclables. Knobs and levers make a toy even more fun to play with, and helps build the motor skills while they play. Quite the educational toy in multiple fields for the little one, as well as being fun-which is the only thing he’s interested in. The compactor was quite interesting to watch at work, and the small bins were realistically cute. Overall quite the good little toy, and excellent buy for what it is, maybe a tad expensive.
2. Tonka Titan Green Garbage Truck
The garbage truck toys here are one of the more expensive models available. And for good reason; it’s a Tonka! And that means quality. For a starter, the truck is huge; 8.2 x 11.2 x 36 inches and has as many features as it is big. This thing is action packed to the point you could fit a small man inside of it. Which you can! in the shape of a small figurine that comes with the truck as well as two small recycling bins. The toy oozes Green education, but the kid won’t know this. All he or she sees is a giant truck with lots of buttons and levers that make cool noises and have cool functions. I wish I could say that I purchased this toy for the kid…what I will say is that we’ll certainly be playing trucks together a lot. What? It’s a good toy!
3. Melissa Doug Deluxe Builder Garbage Truck
This truck may not have tons of fancy features such as lights or sound effects, but it does have two major differences that set it apart. The price is the first one, it’s much more reasonable than other competitor trucks, and the second is that it’s made out of wood. It’s not going to get broken and thrown out like weak plastic would. The action for these garbage truck toys are in the construction. That’s right! you get to build it yourself. You and the little man get to build this garbage truck with nothing but a screwdriver. And if you’re really good, you can impress him by not using the instructions…he-he, good luck. It promises a good time building it with him, and then more good times where he plays with it. There’s nothing better than a toy that you built yourself, unless it’s one that you built with your son.
4. Lego Duplo Garbage Truck
I’ve always loved lego, so when I was searching for a garbage truck toy, I couldn’t get past the lego truck without stopping. Duplo is the chunkier form of lego suited for littler kids, but that was just fine, seeming as it was for my little one. It was a chance to get him using a simpler version of lego, something I had grown up loving. Lo and behold, he loved the truck. It was very basic, but he’s only a toddler and loved interacting with the truck and putting stuff into its back tray. And all I had to do was stay nearby and watch him play. The blocks are big for a reason, but I still wouldn’t want him putting them in his mouth. I found the garbage truck as a great way to introduce lego to my son in a not overly expensive way.
5. 1/34 sized Waste Management Rear Loader
This truck rivals with the Tonka competitor in the toy garbage truck industry, perhaps not in function, but for design and looks for sure. The manufacturer recommends a fourteen years up usage age, which suggests that it’s more of a model truck than an actual toy for kids. But it has a sleek design, and comes with two replica garbage cans. The fact that it’s made out of metal likens it to Tonka’s olden days when the toys were tough and durable. It’s clear that the truck is meant to be kept in it’s pristine and attractive collection as a model, and not to be pushed around in the dirt and sand but rather put on someone’s shelf and admired. And it’s worth admiring, it’s a very attractive model of a truck with serious detail. A must have for trucking enthusiasts.
