When I was little I had fun riding around on a little motorcycles everyone called super pocket bikes. I could zoom through the fields on little tracks the bike wore into the dirt. This was, of course, fun but eventually it got a bit tiring because there were only certain paths and it was boring just going around in a circle.
Later I experienced the freedom of water skiing: magically gliding across the water at incredible speeds, being able to go in any direction… It was great, but then again isn’t it just too bad that there had to be the guy in the boat up front controlling where I went.
After I got a little older I was able to get on a jet ski and experience the thrill of self directed speeding across the water. It was an almost perfect thrill, and I tried to shoehorn it in whenever I wasn’t busy watching Star Wars. I had only a few short years for my prayers to be answered in the form of the Star Wars Water Speeder.
Now I could comfortably and safely internalize my thrill seeking by projecting myself into the mind of the giant Star Wars characters on the screen who were riding around on these insanely overpowered Star Wars Water Speeders. Not only were they exponentially faster than a jet ski but you got to sit up high over the water.
It was pointless to hope for anything better than that but then I started finding the little Star Wars Water Speeder toys when I went to the mall. I got one and was instantly transported into the little figure of the rider, only this time I was really in control. I got to determine what parts of the floor were the water and I could play with it while I watched Star Wars DVDs on the big screen TV. What could be better for an overgrown kid?
