The idea of an inflatable water slide may strike some people as odd. Sure, they might be softer, but how well made are they? The answer is that today’s inflatable pool slides are very well made. They may cost up to $500, but most still cost far less than a regular fiberglass or plastic slide. And some models can be used as backyard slides, too.

One reason inflatable pool slides are becoming popular is that they allow a certain amount of tumbling and bouncing without injury. Anybody who has accidentally tumbled down a fiberglass slide can attest to the bumps and bruises that result. Of course rigid slides are fun, but you get a whole different kinetic experience with an inflatable pool slide.

To set up an inflatable pool slide, first, inflate the slide, then fill up the anchors with water to hold it in place (Some inflatable slides come with tie-downs, too.). Connect the hose to the water jet and your slide is ready. Most are made of durable PVC with special seam construction to stand up to summer after summer of pool fun.

Some inflatable pool slides are made to anchor to the side of the pool, so that you access the slide from outside the pool, while others are made to go entirely in the water, so you do not have to leave the water to climb the slide.

There are even some inflatable slides that can be used in the winter for playing in the snow! Accessories that you should strongly consider buying when purchasing an inflatable pool slide are an electric pump with which to inflate them, and a vinyl repair kit.

And inflatable backyard pools go well with inflatable pool slides. Once pool season is over, you just have to deflate them and store them where they won’t get snagged until next year.
