What is it about outdoor playhouses? Why are they so exciting to children?
When I was a child, I used to read a lot of the Alfred Hitchcock mysteries for kids and featured centrally in every story was the crime solving kids’ secret hideout.
There was something about the sense of safety and privacy that was immediately appealing. The best part was the secret entrance and the fact that it was made out of junk. Well those days have passed us by, and you don’t see too many homemade kids clubhouses in strange empty trash dumps. What a shame. Oh well, you don’t really see too many tree houses anymore either, but the desire for a kids-only outdoor playhouse lives on.
Today it’s all about safety, and there are many prefab outdoor playhouses on the market. These are pretty good for playing house or just getting out of the hot sun. It’s kind of strange to think about how much kids playthings have changed. Most outdoor playhouses are large, brightly colored pieces of plastic which last forever. Luckily, they are fairly light weight affairs that can be easily moved if you need to mow underneath them.

Oh, and they are amazingly easy to put together. I was looking up at a tree the other day and thinking to myself, wouldn’t it be nice to build a tree house? Sure, I thought, I’ll just slap one right up there on that tree. Perhaps the sun had gotten to me because when I actually got down to really thinking about the process of constructing a safe tree house on a living tree it dawned on me that it would require a whole bunch of time and it would be slightly dangerous.
With that in mind, the purchase of a prefab, plastic outdoor playhouse seem like a more prudent option.

i think its stupied to spend sooooo much money on one of those i mean i really want one but theres not a chance in the world i get one like that thats why my dads building me a 2 storey one and it will b x sactly how i want it bc i desing it!
