The Maclaren MX3 is actually a three-wheeled jogger stroller that should work well for jogging on fairly smooth surfaces. It is probably not as good for running in more rugged terrain, but often parents want special strollers particularly for off road jogging if they do that type of running. The wheels are 10 inches in diameter and are made of all-terrain material. There is an easy to use rain cover and hood, adjustable shoulder straps, a 5-point harness, basket, and storage pocket.
To maximize your baby or toddler’s comfort, there are multiple seat positions, and the shoulder straps are padded. Though the stroller is suitable for newborns, there is an optional carry cot that will allow the baby to face the person pushing the stroller. The leg rest is extendable for when baby gets bigger, and the hood’s window is treated to block UV radiation. The seat is removable and washable, and the handle bar is height adjustable for the comfort of very short or very tall parents. The Maclaren MX3 can hold children up to 55 lbs, who are up to 45 inches tall.
Parents like the fact that the design doesn’t have pneumatic wheels like some of the more “rugged terrain” strollers. But some parents think the wheels can make going over bumps a little rough. For average sidewalk bumps, the wheels should cope well, and there is enough padding throughout that it would take some pretty big bumps to startle or jostle your baby. The tire material is about 1 ½ inches thick. The front wheel turns 360 degrees for great maneuverability, but the front wheel can be locked to go straight, which gives better control for jogging or rapid trail walking.
A number of other extras make nice perks, such as plenty of Velcro throughout to keep the parts that unfold or unroll under control. The fabrics are durable, and many parts of the stroller are removable for washing. There are also reflective accents to increase night time safety.
