What is it with children and little things that roll on the ground and make popping noises? You know: those loud little things that in concept seem like an interesting thing for a little child, but end up being fairly trying to anyone in close proximity. Well with the Little Tikes Mulching Mower, you can just take that outside.
This is one of those fairly durable Little Tikes plastic deals. It looks like a little mower except the colors are all bright and primary.
When will the toy manufacturer learn that if you’re making a toy for a child that is supposed to look like something an adult would have you, might as well complete the illusion by getting the colors right. Oh, well. No but really, this toy basically is an off-road rolling popper, but it should be easier on the ears if it’s outside.
Why is it called a mulching mower? I asked myself the same question.
It is called a mulching mower because the balls that pop up in the popper part are supposed to resemble grass mulching. I’ve never personally seen a mower with a see-through mulching chamber so I’m not sure how real the effect is. It’s always good to teach the kids new words and “mulching” might as well be one of them.
Finally, the real pull of this toy is to be able to do what is essentially one of the last mainly male occupations out there. Yes, the parents can pretend that the kids can pretend to be their dad out there on the grass pushing that big loud thing around while mom goes and gets the lemonade. But more likely, your kid is going to pretend he’s that kid from down the street who mows for pocket money.
