Lego’s Star Wars Hyena Droid Bomber

by admin on May 14, 2009

There are several Lego sets that contain the various Droids from the Star Wars Clone Wars series. They just keep coming out with more of them.  These aren’t your classic Lego chunky primary colored rectangles.  No: they’re all grey and brown and translucent, and each little piece has its own place. Not only that, but there are always a few articulating pieces so that once you build it you can prepare for battle.

The selection of Droids which are part of the Lego Star Wars Clone wars collection is extensive.  The Assassin Droids™ Battle Pack comes with five crazy looking minifigures and a little ship that shoots the flick fire missiles and holds two of the minifigures. It’s one of those really small Lego sets, so it’s only about ten bucks or so.

For about four times that amount of money you could get the Ahsoka’s Starfighter™ & Droids™ set which includes the minifigures of  Ahsoka Tano the R7-A7 Droid, 2 Buzz Droids and a Vulture Droid. With the two ships you can have a battle right out of the box!

The Separatist Spider Droid™ set includes a really intricate movable laser cannon mounted underneath.  It has four large articulating legs and comes with the Commander Fox™, Clone Trooper™, Battle Droid™, Super Battle Droid™ and Battle Droid Commander™ minifigures. It’s about 6 inches tall and a full 10 inches wide and costs around thirty bucks.

The most interesting looking of the Droid sets has to be the Droid Gunship™ which includes the Droid™ Pilot and two Battle Droid™ minifigures.  If you twist the gear mounted on the top of this ship you can drop bombs on your land-borne enemies, plus there is an accessible cockpit so you can put your Droids right there at the controls.  Really, any one of the Droid packs would make a fine addition to any battle-hardened Lego veteran’s arsenal.
