At about 250 pieces this Lego set is bigger than some, but really not that big. Then again it doesn’t cost too much and you get six little minifigures in one box.
The biggest figure is the Hail Fire droid which is quite impressive with its tiltable wheels. It just bristles with those little tiny translucent red dot type pieces. You know what I’m talking about: the kind that would just stick to one little Lego bump. Well those are all over it and you also get the brick to make those two huge wheels, so there is a lot of custom stuff in this model.
You get the strangely named four legged spider droid which has a nice round pod piece in the middle and all the legs bend.
If that wasn’t enough, you also get the super battle droid, battle droid commander and 2 battle droids.
You not only get a lot of firepower with this set, you get to go off road. The spider droid looks capable of getting up some fairly tricky rock strewn hills which would leave most pursuers behind. Or at least getting it to a nice look out position. With the spider droid looking out for the enemy the Hail-fire droid can wait in ambush and crush them, leaving the super battle droid and droid commander to investigate the remains.
You know, if you got two of these sets you might be able to make some sort of four wheeled Hail-fire deal and all the wheels would be tiltable. I can’t imagine why you might want to do that, but it just sounds like something that would be neat to do for some reason. And mixing it up is part of the fun of Legos. All in all, it’s a reasonably priced kit as far as Legos go, with plenty to keep you happily busy.
