There is no better way to encourage your children to be active and engage in imaginative play than with a realistic wood project workbench.

1. Real Projects Kids Tool Bench

This workbench is GREAT! We bought it for my son’s third birthday. He really liked playing with the small toolkit he got for Christmas, so we decided to give him a construction-themed birthday party. The Real Project Workbench was the perfect gift to go with that theme. After hours of online research, reading reviews and price comparison, I settled on this workbench . I like to give my son toys that are well built and leave a lot to the imagination, without lots of noise, lights and moving parts that entertain rather than encourage imaginative, creative play that stimulates mental, intellectual and physical development.

The workbench comes with a plastic drill with forward and reverse speeds and four different bits, a plastic hammer, and a plastic saw. The drill requires batteries, in order to simulate the sounds and actions of a real drill, but no other accessories make any sounds or have any moving parts.

The six plastic screws can be screwed into the top of the bench or used with the plastic nuts. There is a drawer for storing small parts, which is at first difficult to pull out and push in but seems to loosen over time. The bottom shelf is ideal for storing all of the wood pieces. The toy vice has an internal spring, so it actually holds the wood pieces in place. What a wonderful feature?

2. Black & Decker Jr Kids Power Tool Workshop Workbench

I had actually ordered a different workbench for my three year old son as a birthday gift, but it was on backorder. I took a chance on this one only after reading reviews. Just to test it before giving it to my son, I actually put the workbench together with the toy tools that came with it. My little boy is a huge fan of Handy Manny and Bob the Builder and he gives it high marks. My other sons, six and seven years old like to play with it too. The boys build and dismantle a plastic birdhouse over and over again. Needless to say, I am quite pleased with anything that brings all three of my boys together. This purchase is not only a good value it’s an excellent way for my boys and I to bond while we work on construction projects.

If you want to give your little one a workbench made from wood rather than plastic, this is the one for you! The construction is durable, sturdy and my son loves banging the nails. The workbench comes with plenty of nails and screws, and is guaranteed to give many hours of creative fun.

I give this one four thumbs up! When I saw this toy, I couldn’t believe how wonderful it was. My three year old son loves it so much he dropped everything and spends all of his playtime taking the valve cover, supercharger, and various car parts off. Putting this workbench together was literally a snap. It requires a lot of non-typical batteries, but with so many noise and light emitting tools, I don’t consider this a drawback. We only got this workbench a couple of days ago, but the quality is so high, I expect it to last for a very long time. It is definitely one of the best toys in its price range that I have ever seen.
