Fisher Price Power Wheels
Power Wheels ride-on toys from Fisher Price have been around for over a decade, and they are still every bit as popular as they were when they were introduced ““ possibly even more so. Fisher Price has taken a “grown up” item, a car or four-wheeler, and scaled it down in size and speed so that it can be easily driven by children from ages 3 to 7.
And do kids ever love them! Most models, like the Jeeps, come in different color/trim specifications, with some more geared toward boys, and some toward girls. The Jeeps have real working doors, an FM radio that can scan for stations, Velcro seatbelts, and storage space so kids can take their gear along on adventures. There are two forward speeds: 2.5 mph and 5 mph, and one reverse gear. For beginners, there is a high speed lockout so they can get used to driving before going “fast.”
In multi-kid households, there will be sharing issues if the children are close in age ““ regardless of gender. And they’re expensive enough that buying two or more isn’t really an option for most parents. But these toys are generally well made and come with a decent rechargeable battery that can be replaced if necessary.
Fisher Price Power Wheels ride-on toys generally cope well with flat grass or asphalt but can also cope with uneven grass surfaces and small hills. As far as being “educational,” these toys aren’t going to by themselves produce little Einsteins. But as a reward for learning a task or for good behavior, they could be valuable because kids have so much fun with them.
Parents and grandparents like Power Wheels because of their almost magical ability to keep children happily occupied for a long time. For those who can afford it, Fisher Price Power Wheels toys are a great addition to childhood.
