1. Girl’s Cleopatra Queen Egyptian Costume
My daughter got tons of attention when she wore this for Halloween. She wanted to be a princess but I persuaded her to go for something that would not be the pick of every girl at the party. Since she took my advice and went as Cleopatra she stood out from the pack and got all that attention. She loved it. After the party, she thanked me for getting her the coolest costume at the whole party.

2. Cleopatra Children’s Costume
The head piece was so small I had to sew an extra piece of fabric in it to make it fit, and the rest of the costume just fit. While the costume size ran a bit small, the quality was superior. I recommend ordering a size larger than normal to insure that it fits the way you want it to. The cape attaches to the arm pieces with Velcro. . If you lift your arms too high while wearing it, they just come off. It was so difficult for my daughter to maneuver, that she left the cape in the car when I dropped her off at school on Halloween. The dress was made to perfection and the details are nice and sparkly. I don’t know where you would get a better costume unless you made it yourself. LOL!

5 Cleopatra Halloween Costume Tips
1. Hair
If you do not have shoulder length jet black hair, you will need to buy a wig. The ideal Cleopatra wig features straight hair and that falls between your mid neck and shoulders. But, do not despair if there are no more wigs that fit that description in stock. You can always buy a longer black wig and cut it to the desired length yourself. If you find yourself in a situation where you must trim your wig, place it on a dummy and very carefully cut one section of the hair at a time. If you have no dummy, put the wig on and have someone else trim it for you. Trying to cut the wig without a visual reference, will result in you ending up with a wig that has jagged, uneven edges. You will find the best prices at a costume shop rather than a beauty supply store or wig shop. Costume wigs are well made and will last for years, so why bother spending a lot of money when you don’t have to.
2. Clothing
A lightweight cotton tunic works best for the Cleopatra costume. It should be white or off-white and mid calf length because ancient Egyptians did not wear floor length gowns with hemlines touching the floor. Try buying a tunic that is at least one size larger than you usually take to make the dress hang loosely and add a swish when you walk to give the garment a feel of authenticity. The belt should be a wrap around sash that can be tied with a dangling tassel at the end. Dark colors work best for the belt because they add dimension to your waistline.
3. Shoes
Be sure to choose open toe sandals in neutral tones to complete your Cleopatra costume. Since Ptolemaic period sandals were very similar to modern-day shoes, so this accessory is easy to acquire. Don’t forget to add a rubber snake for a little extra fun and the proverbial finishing touch. The rubber asp can either be wrapped around your ankle or your arm or you may want to simply pin it to your tunic.
4. Make-Up
Pronounced black eyeliner is the centerpiece of the Cleopatra make-up. Liquid eye liner works best to achieve this effect, over charcoal, because it gives you better control. Your eyeliner should be thick and follow the natural shape of your eyes on the top and bottom with a trailing edge extended out over the exterior of your eyes. The trick to keeping your make-up looking fresh all night long is to apply a foundation and set it will powder to keep the eyeliner from smudging and sweating off as you dance.
5. Jewelry
You will need wide banded gold tone cuffs for your wrists with upper arm bands that compliment the wrist cuffs. They should fit snuggly in order to remain in place, but not tight enough to cut off your circulation. Every self-respecting Egyptian queen sports a gold tone collar. They can be purchased almost anywhere that sells costume jewelry and are generally one size fits all. Your earrings should be very bold – either gold tone or very colorful and dangling to make a powerful fashion statement. Last of all, this is one outfit that works very well with ankle bracelets and toe rings. Get that pedicure and adorn your toes and ankles with gold tone baubles that compliment the wrist cuffs and upper arm bands.
