  1. Very interesting desings. Leonardo is always surprising us with his creative mind.

  2. Very informative article, though the mechanical Knight built by Mark Rosheim is owned by me. Leonardo’s Lost Robot Knight is currently on display in San Diego at the Museum of Man and photos of it are at my website http://www.leonardoshands.com

Mark Rosheim built it for a BBC special and its description was used by Dan Brown in the Da Vinci Code. If you would like to use the correct photo of it for your discussions feel free… take care, ben sweeney

Very good article… but does nobody proofread?

There are major errors all over the place that are easy to spot with just a speed-read. I hate having to re-read a sentence a few times thinking that I misinterpreted something, when it’s really just sloppy writing/editing to begin with:
“Though capable of rapid-fire which later model machine guns became noted for, this his housed an ingenious aiming and loading mechanism.”

“His sketches horse drawn reveal carriages covered with sharp, swirling blades that moved in the thick of battle slashing through everything in their wake.”

“Da Vinci’s precursor to the modern tank surely could have created “shock and awe” on the 15th-century battlefield, the design contained some serious flaws.”

    …and more…

The Discovery Channel’s series “Doing Da Vinci,” actually made quite a few of these devices. Here’s links to the scythe chariot http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/doing-davinci-scythe-chariot.html

Very interesting article, nonetheless the title should be Leonardo’s War Machines. Because “Da Vinci” means “from Vinci” and it’s not his lastname.

The helicopter idea was not his. There is a painting from China depicting the exact object held in a childs hand as a toy – before Da Vinci’s time.

he was a great man with many complicated designs for his time.

I think that he was a great man with a mind that could function on both sides equally. so there fore he would be well balanced. i think that he has many secrets we have yet to unlock but this site is a good start. maybe we need to look under the surface and try to think like the man who was able to have ideas that were so out of his time. Obviously he was smart but i think that we are just as great as him. we have potential to be just like him. we are gifted in our own way.
